ART & DESIGN
Art and design is an important part of the all round education of pupils in Cedar Lodge School. It encourages and promotes aesthetic and creative development of pupils at all stages of learning. It provides for them a unique way of expressing feelings and ideas about the world they live in.
The Art & Design curriculum is both broad and balanced. All pupils have the opportunity to investigate ideas and materials and to realise their intentions through lively and practical programmes based on visual and tactile experiences and ideas. Pupils will explore in a variety of 2D & 3D media and develop the appropriate skills and techniques associated with them.
Pupils will have the opportunity to: -
- use and combine a variety of drawing, painting and graphic materials, tools and processes;
- use a variety of printing techniques and methods;
- work with textiles using a variety of materials, tools and techniques;
- manipulate, decorate and fire clay, using a variety of techniques;
- using a variety natural and man-made materials to create reliefs and sculptures;
- use ICT/CAD techniques for recording and creating work.
On going evaluation will foster a growing appreciation of not only their own work, but that of their peers, other pupils, as well as outside artists, designers and craftworkers within their own and other cultures.
Continuity and progression have been planned within the scheme of work for both KS3 and KS4. The curriculum offered will equip each pupil with the background, knowledge, experience and skill to enable them to progress to examinations either GCSE or AQA level.
