HISTORY

History is a subject under the heading of Environment and Society. The subject has a significant role to play in meeting the overall aims of the revised curricular objectives; developing pupils as individuals, as contributors to society, environment and economy. Through their study of History pupils develop, their individual ability to question information, past and present, and their critical thinking skills.

Programme of Study

Yr 8:- What is History? / My Own History / The Normans / Site study of Clough Castle.

Yr 9:- Rivalry and Conflict / Study in depth; The Spanish Armada. (Ulster Museum visit)

Yr 10:- Nationalism and Unionism / Study in Depth; The First World War. (The Somme Centre visit)

KS 4:- Follows GCSE Specifications for entry level. Individual AQA Unit Awards completed.
