PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

More than any other institution, with the exception of the family, school has the potential to shape and nurture the skills, wellbeing and potential of our young people in Northern Ireland. Personal Development and Mutual Understanding provides essential opportunities in today’s increasingly complex, challenging and rapidly changing world for children to develop:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and opportunities they may encounter in an increasingly diverse contemporary society;
  • The skills, attitudes and values necessary for independent living, informed decision-making and responsible action throughout their lives; and
  • An understanding of their role in working for a more inclusive, just and democratic society.

School Facilities

The new school is now fully operational and it is providing an excellent base for all pupils to be educated in a bright, spacious and modern setting. Some of the main features of the building are:

  • School library for primary and secondary pupils, as well as staff
  • Fitness suite
  • School sports hall
  • A number of playgrounds featuring sports areas, games area, landscaping and social areas
  • The primary playground incorporates an adventure playground
  • All practical subjects have additional rooms off the main room to allow for additional planning, computer and preparation work
  • Solar panels on the roof provide hot water for the school
  • There is a water tank under the playground which sterilises rain water. In turn this water is used as waste water throughout the building eg. Toilets.
  • There is a wind turbine on the building which provides some of the electricity used to run the building.
